The Port Austin Artist in Residence, Port Austin AiR, is the next step to create dynamic dialogue with artists from Michigan, the mid-West and the world.

The first step of this is our Barn Art project. The goal is to create ten Barn Art projects in ten years. It’s bold but “to enjoy life, take big bites.”

Creating building sized works of art has put Port Austin on the art world’s map.

AiR is our new and ongoing project to create a residence for artists, those working on the Barn Art project AND for visitingartists who will be able to stay in the Bee Barn and create, inspired by Port Austin, its people, its beaches, parks, its water, its night sky, its summer tempos and its winter quiet.

That inspiration turned into works that will be shared with all of us...the school, the community, everyone. And then delivered to the world. The idea of bringing in new ideas, new visions, new narratives is key in growth. Change will happen, and art is the leading edge of that change.

Please join us in growing Port Austin. “Bee” part of the Artist in Residence. Your donations, time and commitment will help us move forward to embrace a new way of growing Port Austin, creating new industries in the arts.
